hohPublica is basically a public service whose content is freely accessible. No user account is required to search for and download publications on hohPublica.

Opening a hohPublica user account is only mandatory for the following two purposes:

1. Publish on hohPublica yourself: The user account grants the person holding the account access to an entry form via which they can submit documents for publication in hohPublica. Before submitting the publication, a publication agreement, which is treated separately from this end user agreement, must be accepted within the submission form. The publication agreement is only valid for the respective submission. As part of this publication agreement, the submitting person commissions the publication of the submitted document and also assures that they are authorized to submit the document in question.
2. Subscribing to specific content: The user account grants the submitting person the option to subscribe to individual sections and collections of hohPublica. Subscribers are notified by e-mail about new publications in the subscribed sections/collections.

On hohPublica a distinction is made between two different user groups:

1. University members with a valid Hohenheim user account
2. External users without a valid Hohenheim user account
