+When starting a new submission via the input mask, a new system-specific DOI is first reserved and displayed directly at the beginning of the mask under the section “Idenifiers”.

+All primary publications on hohPublica, i.e. all publications that have not yet been published in exactly the same form on another platform or with another publisher, are automatically assigned a new DOI.
+You can take the DOI from the input mask and insert it into your document as a citation reference before uploading the document.

+However, each publication should only receive exactly one DOI so that it can be clearly identified by this. Therefore, for secondary publications, i.e. for all publications that have already appeared on another platform or with another publisher, please check whether the publication has already received a DOI. If this is the case, you can enter it in the input mask further down in the “Formal description” section in the “Identifiers” field.
+To do this, please click on the plus sign below the field to enter a new identifier. On the left side, please select the identifier type “URI”. On the right side, please enter the DOI in URL form, i.e. with a leading “https://doi.org/”. Example: “https://doi.org/10.2030/12345”.

+Entering the DOI here ensures that no system-generated DOI is created for the publication. You can check this by taking another look at the “Identifiers” section above: after you have saved your entry (or it has been automatically saved), only a so-called “handle” link will now be displayed there. (This is always created in addition as an internal reference link for the entry).
