Preparation of electronic documents for publication

Electronic text publications are published exclusively in PDF (Portable Document Format) on hohPublica. Please note the information below, merge your files into a single PDF and then upload this file to hohPublica as you enter your text. It is not necessary to submit the file in its original format or in the format in which it was processed.

If additional information (e.g. Supplementary information for scientific articles) is available in other file formats, you can pack it into a compressed ZIP file and upload this ZIP file in addition to the primary file (PDF).

The formal design of an electronic document depends heavily on the word processing system used and the formal and aesthetic preferences of the author or their field. Due to the resulting complexity, only an incomplete range of options is available on this topic.

The most comprehensive tool for directly creating and editing PDF files is Adobe Acrobat with the program modules Acrobat Writer and Acrobat Distiller (not to be confused with the free Acrobat Reader for reading and printing PDF files). Adobe Acrobat offers a range of security settings for a PDF file. When publishing on hohPublica, no security settings may be set, as the aim is to enable users of the documents offered to carry out academic work with electronic publications with as few barriers as possible.
